Officials say the renovated Wrigley Field doesn’t meet federal standards.
Federal prosecutors filed a civil lawsuit against the Chicago Cubs, alleging the baseball team’s renovations at Wrigley Field violated protections for people with disabilities.
In December, the Justice Department prosecutors launched an investigation into the $1 billion five-year renovation to determine if it meets accessibility requirements for disabled spectators. The review was initiated after a lawsuit was brought by a wheelchair-bound fan who alleged that seating in the ballpark was not compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and is, in fact, worse than before the renovation.
Wrigley Field is the second-oldest ballpark in the major leagues.
